HP EliteDesk 800 G6 PC type testing
Although the latest indications from HP were that the HP EliteDesk 800 G5 PC range was not due to go EOL until March 2021, we are starting to receive reports from customers around the world that local distributors are already switching to the new HP EliteDesk 800 G6 PC range.
Factory orders for G6 test units were placed with HP in early December with type approval testing due to commence as soon as they have been delivered. We have already received the G6 Tower (TWR) PC test unit and the G6 Small Form Factor (SFF) PC test unit should by with us soon.
We hope to have completed the type approval testing in February with the aim of making our new range of supporting Mariner Kits available for customer orders at the same time.
However, whilst we may be in a position to supply our new range of Mariner kits, please be aware of the fact that the certification process will still be ongoing. Based on previous experience, some Classification Societies process our type approval applications quickly (approx. 1 month) whereas others can take 3 months (or sometimes longer) to process our application and issue their final type approval certificate.
We are currently recommending that customers attempt to secure sufficient stock of G5 PCs to cover their requirements into Q2 2021. Currently, we still have access to limited stocks of the G5 PCs here in the UK and, if you are able to confirm your minimum required specification, we will do whatever we can to assist you in the short term.
